v1.2.3 - 2026-10-31

  • The rider no longer trails behind the bike. The rider model was carried by a stand-in teleported once a tick, which fell a block or more behind at speed. It now sits on an invisible marker that rides the bike itself, so every player's game moves both together.
  • rider.self-offset-y / -forward are gone (the copies ride the bike now). self-hide-head stays.

v1.2.2 - 2026-10-31

  • Your own F5 copy moves. It was set up with no player detection (so nobody else would see it), and ModelEngine doesn't animate a model nobody is detected for: it stood still, floating above the bike. It now detects players and lets only the rider see it.
  • No more double skid. Every half second the current animation was started again to update its speed, which restarted a trick partway through (the whip played twice) and made pedalling stutter. Now only the speed changes.

v1.2.1 - 2026-10-31

  • See yourself in F5. The rider gets their own copy of the animated rider, shown only to them (rider.show-to-self, on). Other players still see the normal copy on the bike.
    • If its head gets in the way in first person, nudge your copy with rider.self-offset-y / rider.self-offset-forward (blocks) until your camera sits inside the head (a model isn't drawn from inside).
    • Or hide its head with rider.self-hide-head (then you're headless in F5).
    • /bikes admin reload, then get back on, to try a value.

v1.2.0 - 2026-10-31

  • The rider moves. Other players see you on your bike with your own skin: legs following the pedals, leaning to the bars, standing on a sprint or a track stand, and the left foot down when stopped. Every trick moves you with the bike.
    • It's a separate ModelEngine model (rb_fixie_rider, the R4.1 player limbs) on a model-only stand-in that follows the bike. You don't see it yourself, so first person stays clear.
    • The real player is invisible to others while riding, with their armour hidden.
    • 1.0.0's rider had no chest and didn't move: it used the old limb tags on empty bones.
    • rider.limbs: false goes back to the plain seated player. rider.show-to-self: true also shows the rider to yourself (test it in F5).
  • Tricks look like themselves:
    • Whip Skid: the rear lifts and swings out 75 degrees around the front wheel.
    • Fish and Chips: a long low skid, the bike leaning hard to one side and one leg kicked out behind.
    • Fishtail: the rear wagging side to side.
    • Track Stand: small balancing wobbles.
    • The cranks turn once per wheel turn, so the feet stay on the pedals.
  • Motion effects:
    • Skids: smoke, grit from the ground, a dark rubber mark and gravel sounds; sparks on a whip.
    • Sprints: kick up dust.
    • Speed: wind streaks past you from 40 mph (effects.wind-mph).
    • Crashes: a burst of dirt and dust.
  • The bike is scale 0.9 (1.1.0: 1.0), so the rider's legs reach the pedals.

v1.1.0 - 2026-10-31

Player-report fixes (release 1.28).

  • You're seen on your bike. You sit on the seat as yourself, in the normal riding pose, seen by everyone. The 1.0.0 model-drawn rider is gone: it showed floating head and arms with no body, and filled your first-person view.
  • Shift no longer gets you off. It was half of Shift+F, so tricks threw you off the bike. Get off with the Get Off trick (F to pick it, Shift+F to do it) or /bikes off.
  • Full-size bikes. They were scaled to 0.75. Wheels, cranks and pedals now turn forwards (they spun backwards), and skids lift the rear instead of digging it into the ground.
  • Speeds: the quest-built Tsunari does 30 mph and every store look 60 mph (as set on 2026-10-30, now covered by a test).
    • The Citizens click command (/npc command add bikes admin npc <p>) stopped at Citizens' "Prompter" and is no longer needed: remove it with /npc command remove.
    • /bikes admin npc <player> still opens it for someone.

v1.0.0 - 2026-10-30

First release (release 1.27).

  • Getting a bike: talk to the Bike NPC at spawn. Bring the parts (32 iron ingots, 6 iron chains, 4 leather, 8 string, 2 slime balls, 2 black dye) and the NPC builds your first fixie, the Tsunari Steelmaster.
  • Using it: /bikes brings yours out (one at a time) and puts it away. Only you can ride your bike: right-click it.
  • Riding: W pedals, A/D steer (sharper when slow), Shift gets off. There are no brakes: letting go of W only coasts. Top speed: the built Tsunari does 30 mph, store looks 60 mph (a 60 mph event fixie is coming later). Speed shows in the bar at the top.
  • Crashes: hitting a wall at 10+ mph throws you off with a crash animation. It never hurts.
  • The rider: stops with one foot down at 0 mph, pedals faster the faster you go, and stands up to sprint.
  • Tricks bar (it replaces the Paths HUD while riding; F picks, Shift+F does it):
    • Whip Skid: a stop.
    • Fish and Chips: a skid with a leg kicked out.
    • Sprint: 3 s of hard pedalling.
    • Track Stand: at 0-5 mph, balance in place.
    • Fishtail Skid: slows you down.
    • Get Off.
  • Looks: Tsunari Steelmaster (built through the quest), plus Engin 12 Volt, Leedr Crimson, Ciello Pastel, Kuroi Stealth and Sora Pearl from the store. These are original look-alike brands with no real logos.
    • /bikes admin give|take <player> <skin>; the store runs /p2w <player> bike <skin>.
    • The quest parts are in quest.items, each look's top speed is skins.<id>.max-mph, and free looks (none) are free-skins.
    • The Bike NPC is a Citizens NPC that runs bikes admin npc <p> as the console.
    • The blueprints (rb_fixie_<skin>) come from tools/fixie_model.py. ModelEngine needs a restart and a pack merge.
